A New Way to Share ‘This American Life’

I've been listening to podcasts since Ricky Gervais' The Ricky Gervais Show. I'm currently subscribed to 41 podcasts, though I probably only listen to less than a third of those on a regular basis. This American Life has always been one of those podcasts. When I heard they invested time and money into an app that would allow listeners to share their content in a new way, I was intrigued.

Shortcut (still in Beta) allows you to share any clip you want from the program. You choose where the clip starts and ends by either highlighting the section you want from the show's transcript or by using a scrubber. Both options are intuitive. You can also choose between four background color options for a bit of customization. The final product is a sharable video with audio and a karaoke-like display of the transcript text. The video quality is lacking, but I'm hoping that's something that they're working on for launch.

Here's an example of a TAL Shortcut.
